The Dessert That Does Double Duty

This one's become a family favorite — probably because it's simple enough that even picky eaters go back for seconds. A buttery graham cracker crust, a fluffy berry-yogurt filling, and fresh strawberries and blueberries on top. No oven, no fuss, and it comes together in about 15 minutes of active time.

What makes this recipe so versatile is how you serve it. On a regular weeknight, I make it in a simple pie dish for the family — easy to scoop, easy to share. When I'm hosting, I layer it into individual parfait or martini glasses instead, and it instantly becomes the most impressive thing on the dessert table. Same recipe, two completely different impressions.

Ingredients

For the graham cracker crust:

  • 1.5 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ stick unsalted butter, melted
  • Dash of salt
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

For the berry filling:

  • Fresh organic strawberries, sliced
  • Fresh organic blueberries
  • Three 5.3oz Chobani mixed berry Greek yogurt cups
  • 1 large tub Cool Whip, kept refrigerated until ready to use

Instructions

Make the crust

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, salt, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fully combined. If you're crushing your own crackers, a rolling pin makes quick work of it.
  2. Press firmly into your serving dish of choice — a pie pan for family-style serving, or parfait or martini glasses for hosting. For individual glasses, use about 3 heaping teaspoons pressed into the bottom of each.
  3. Reserve the leftover crumb mixture to sprinkle on top later.

Make the filling

  1. Slice your strawberries and rinse your blueberries, keeping the Cool Whip refrigerated while you prep.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and berries and mix until incorporated.
  3. Gently fold in the Cool Whip using a spatula until fully combined — don't overmix, you want to keep the airy texture.
  4. Refrigerate the filling for about 15 minutes before assembling.

Assemble

  1. Scoop the chilled filling into your crust-lined dish, filling glasses over the brim into a pointy dollop on top.
  2. Sprinkle the reserved graham cracker crumbs over the top.
  3. Add a few extra berries as garnish.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 1.5 hours before serving.

Pro Tips

  • Keep the Cool Whip cold until the moment you fold it in — this keeps the filling light and airy instead of dense.
  • Martini or parfait glasses make it a centerpiece — the layered look does the work for you visually with almost no extra effort. Serve with a small dessert spoon for the prettiest presentation.
  • Make it ahead — this actually improves after a few hours chilling, so it's an easy make-ahead option for hosting.
